Communication

Through my about page on my website, more formally found on the home screen, there is a ton of data on who I am as a person and what can be expected from me, every individual in this class is a walking research project and I think that was tapped into with this ‘about me’ assignment at the beginning of the semester. Not only do I provide valuable information to the likeliness and predictability of myself but, I am able to visually show my hometown in the mapping portion of the assignment in which we used Google Maps to visualize and put a more solid object of location on our websites as another part of the “show, don’t tell” portion of this course. As well as the Lost Essay, in which I portray a story and much more length of what I would normally tell a person, and the information in that story has so much underlying quantitative information to define a person it is very often over looked depending on the information provided in the story and the person reading it. But most often you get an amazing window into that portion of that person’s life in this case it is mine. But with the information provided you get a great showing through telling on the, who, what, when, where, why and how on this story to paint a great picture into this part of my life. This assignment really pushed us to dig deeper than most students do in the first week of school and I think that really helped set the tone for the semester. The third assignment to proper communications is the fairly explicit team norms, in which I gives precise communicated expectations to team members for what is expected through the semester and that is a great way to get the point across, to give clear and concise directions on what is to be expected at all times to team members for a group to be successful throughout the semester and our team really did a great job at setting the right tone for the semester through these team norms. Overall though this whole course has been one huge communication piece that has done a great job overall at preparing students for a future in any major or pathway that an individual might chose. Whether its through scientific research or just through presentations, I know I have been given a great look into everything that is available to ma to make a great communication presentation to be clear and concise at all times.
